The idyllic beauty of winter.

Snowflakes dance through the air. The snow creaks under your boots and sparkles in the sunlight. Cheerful voices combine with peaceful silence here at the farm: whizzing downhill on a bob-sleigh or paddleboard is great fun at any age.

The lightness and brightness of spring.

Something is moving below the blanket of snow. The crocuses are reaching up towards the sun. The bees are buzzing happily and collecting nectar for their honey. Enjoy the spring awakening on a sunny ski slope in the mountains, or during a hike among sweetly-scented flowers. A spring holiday in the Dolomites is certainly a fantastic experience.

  • Circular hike around the Kienberg
… which stands out like an island in the landscape, and is the subject of many local legends. Starting from Unterguggenberg farm, you head to Ronchi, then continue towards Casteldarne before returning to base.

The play of colours in autumn.

The landscape is like a painting by an artist, with shades of brilliant red, bright orange and vibrant yellow all combined in a beautiful work of art. The deep blue sky, the warm sunshine and the magnificent scenic views tempt you out for walks in the local area, or long hikes up in the mountains. This is the most colourful and vibrant time of the year.

  • The pilgrimage church of Maria Saalen
… can be reached in a lovely walk in a series of stages. This little 17th-century church is dedicated to the Madonna of Loreto, and houses an image of the Black Madonna holding the Child Jesus. After your walk, it is well worth stopping off at the delightful Saaler Wirt tavern.
  • Trip to the bunkers with tasty surprise
The Sares-Mantana bunker complex was built after the outbreak of the Second World War. However, it is now much more than just a reminder of the past, because a part of the complex has taken on a new life as a “taste bunker”. Specially selected cheeses are left to mature for months or even years until they reach perfection. Tastings are possible on request, with advance booking (honestly, tasting is believing!).
